Sandisk Sansa Clip 8GB audio player review

What I like about it

Plays Ogg Vorbis and FLAC formats.
Uncomplicated file transfer: Connect to USB, it appears as (unpartitioned) USB mass storage device (there's at least one other protocol supported, but USB mass storage is what I want and use), I copy some directories containing ogg files into the MUSIC directory on the player, unmount and disconnect the player, it indexes the files (allowing you to then select by artist, album, genre, or song), and is ready to play.
Small and lightweight, with a practical clip for keeping on the clothes.
The sound quality with the included earphones is good enough for me, apart from the necessarily weak bass.
You can also use it for recording (not tried yet).
Good price (I got it for EUR 50 from Amazon in 2009-03).

Cannot play during charging. The battery is not replacable, so once it's dead, the player is just an expensive, slow (about 4MB/s write speed), and clunky (needs extra cable) USB stick.
Not enough space, so I have to select among my music collection. I would like to see a 32GB version.
Once I pause playing, after a short while it turns itself off. That's annoying because starting it again takes a few seconds.
Even the "full" manual that's provided only on a mini-CD is very skimpy on details, and just assumes that you are using some particular software on Windows. In particular, it does not tell me what playlist formats the player accepts. That manual is also outdated; e.g., it does not mention that the Ogg Vorbis format supported.
Selecting a frequency in the FM radio is a bit tedious, and I cannot program stations.
A watchclock functionality would be nice.
